Website Redesign Services in India

GOSHU Digital provides website redesign services in India for businesses whose website looks dated, struggles on mobile, or no longer reflects what they sell. We modernise what customers see (design, structure, content and the mobile experience) while protecting what search engines have already learned about your site: its URLs, its page titles and the links other websites point at it.

That second part is where most redesigns go wrong. When old page addresses stop working and nobody redirects them, the rankings and enquiries those pages earned can vanish soon after launch. So every redesign we take on includes a written redirect map, a staged launch and a Search Console check afterwards, not only a new look.

We are a website designing company in Rohtak, Haryana, and redesign sites for businesses across India, in English or Hindi. Starting from scratch with no site at all? See website design instead.

Signs your website needs a redesign

Not every old website needs replacing. Look for problems that are costing you enquiries:

  • Visitors have to pinch and zoom on a phone, or buttons are too small to tap.
  • Pages take several seconds to appear on mobile data, especially image-heavy ones.
  • You can't change services or timings without calling a developer, so the site is out of date.
  • Enquiry forms deliver to an inbox nobody checks, or nobody has tested where they go.
  • Browsers show security warnings because the SSL certificate lapsed or some pages still load over plain HTTP.
  • The site runs on an outdated theme, plugins or PHP version that no longer gets security updates.
  • Your services, branding or customers have changed, but the website hasn't.
  • There is no click-to-call or WhatsApp button, so mobile visitors have to copy your number.
  • Search traffic has been sliding for months while competitors with newer sites move ahead.

If only one or two of these apply, a focused fix may be enough. Slow pages, for example, can often be solved with website speed optimization without a full redesign.

Refresh, redesign or rebuild?

"Redesign" means different things to different agencies. Agree which of these you are paying for before you compare quotes:

Three levels of website redesign
OptionWhat changesSEO riskGood fit when
Visual refreshColours, typography, images and layout on the existing platform; URLs stay the sameLowThe structure works but the site looks dated
Full redesignNew design, navigation and content structure; some pages merged, added or renamedMedium: needs a redirect mapYour services or audience have changed, or the site is hard to use
Rebuild on a new platformEverything above plus the technology underneath, for example WordPress or Wix to Next.jsHigher: most URLs and templates changeThe current platform is slow, insecure or blocks what you need

Thinking of leaving WordPress? Our Next.js vs WordPress guide compares the two honestly, and our Next.js development page explains what a rebuild involves.

How our website redesign process works

  1. Audit and benchmark

We crawl your current site, export the pages that bring search traffic and enquiries from Search Console and analytics, list the pages other sites link to, and record mobile speed scores as dated lab data, so there is a baseline to compare against.

  2. Decide the scope

Based on the audit, we recommend a refresh, redesign or rebuild and explain why. Pages that perform are kept; thin or duplicate pages are merged.

  3. Content and URL plan

We plan the new sitemap and keep existing URLs wherever possible. Every URL that has to change goes into the redirect map.

  4. Mobile-first design

New page designs for phone and desktop, built from your real content and reviewed with you.

  5. Build on staging

The new site is built on a private staging address, hidden from search engines, while your current site stays live.

  6. Pre-launch checks

Every redirect is tested, old and new titles and descriptions are compared, forms and WhatsApp buttons are tried, and speed is measured again.

  7. Launch and monitor

We switch over, submit the new sitemap and watch Search Console for crawl errors and missing pages after launch.

SEO-safe website migration checklist

Use this checklist whether we handle your redesign or someone else does. It follows Google's own guidance on site moves with URL changes.

Before launch

  • Crawl the old site and save every URL, including PDFs and images that get search traffic.
  • Export the evidence from Search Console: pages with clicks, the queries they rank for, and the Links report showing which pages have backlinks.
  • Build the redirect map: one row per old URL, pointing to the closest matching new page. Don't send everything to the homepage; Google treats that much like a missing page.
  • Carry over metadata: keep or improve each page's title, meta description and H1 instead of letting new templates generate generic ones.
  • Preserve the invisible parts: structured data, canonical tags, image alt text, the analytics tag and any Search Console verification code.
  • Keep staging out of Google with a password or noindex tag, and put removing it on the launch-day list.
Example redirect map
Old URLNew URLAction
/about-us.html/about301 redirect
/products.php?id=12/products/steel-almirah301 redirect
/services/interior-work/services/interior-design301 redirect (renamed)
/gallery-2019/projects301 redirect (merged)
/diwali-offerNone410 Gone (no equivalent page)

On launch day

  • Switch on server-side 301 redirects (308s also count as permanent for Google), each pointing straight to its final URL with no chains.
  • Remove the staging noindex or password, then confirm robots.txt is not blocking the new site.
  • Submit the new XML sitemap in Search Console and spot-check key pages with the URL Inspection tool.
  • Update internal links so they point at the new URLs directly rather than through redirects.
  • Update links you control elsewhere: Google Business Profile, Justdial, IndiaMART and other listings, social media bios, your WhatsApp Business profile and the landing URLs in any Google or Meta ads.
  • Check QR codes printed on visiting cards, brochures, menus and shop standees. If they point at old URLs, make sure those URLs redirect.
  • If you can, launch outside your busiest period, such as festive-season sales or admission season.

After launch

  • Watch the Page indexing and Performance reports in Search Console, comparing clicks to key pages with the period before launch.
  • Fix any 404 errors that appear by adding redirects for URLs the map missed.
  • Keep redirects in place for at least a year, as Google recommends, and ideally for good.
  • Use Search Console's Change of Address tool only if you also moved to a new domain. A redesign on the same domain doesn't need it.

Some ranking movement after launch is normal while Google recrawls the site; Google says most URLs on a small or medium site move over within a few weeks. A sustained drop usually points to a missed redirect or a page that lost content, which is why the audit baseline matters.

Redirects depend on where your site is built

  • WordPress: redirects can live in a plugin or in server rules. Server-level rules are faster and survive plugin changes.
  • Shopify: product, collection and page URLs always carry fixed prefixes such as /products/ and /collections/, so moving a store to or from Shopify changes most URLs. Shopify's built-in URL redirects handle the mapping.
  • Wix and similar builders: sites can't be exported to another platform, so pages are rebuilt and content copied across. Plan the redirect map early.
  • Old PHP or HTML sites: URLs ending in .php or .html, or built on query strings, need server-side 301 rules rather than JavaScript redirects.
  • Next.js: permanent redirects are declared in the project configuration and return a 308 status, which Google treats like a 301.

What affects the cost of website redesign services in India

Redesign quotes vary widely because the work varies widely. The main cost drivers are:

  • How deep the change goes: a visual refresh, a full redesign or a rebuild on a new platform
  • The number of distinct page templates, more than the raw number of pages
  • How much content is rewritten, merged or created from scratch
  • How many URLs need redirecting, and how messy the old structure is
  • Integrations to rebuild or add, such as payment gateways, booking tools, CRMs or chat
  • A second language, such as adding Hindi pages

We quote per project after a short audit of your current site. For typical market ranges, see our website development cost guide.

Frequently asked questions

Will redesigning my website hurt my Google rankings?

It can, if URLs change without redirects or pages lose their content. Done carefully, with every changed URL redirected and titles carried over, most sites see only short-lived movement while Google recrawls them. Nobody can promise zero change, but the checklist on this page removes the usual causes of lasting drops.

How much does a website redesign cost in India?

It depends on how deep the change goes, the number of page templates, how much content changes, the number of URLs to redirect and any integrations. A visual refresh on the same platform usually costs far less than a rebuild on a new one.

We quote per project after a short audit. Message us on WhatsApp with your current website address to start.

Can you redesign my website without changing the URLs?

Often, yes, and it is the safest option for SEO. If your current URLs are clean and descriptive, we keep them. They have to change when a platform forces a structure, such as Shopify's /products/ prefix, or when the old URLs are messy, like page.php?id=12. In those cases each one gets a 301 redirect.

Should I move from WordPress to Next.js when I redesign?

Not automatically. If your team relies on the WordPress editor and the site is secure and reasonably fast, redesigning on the same platform may be the sensible choice. Moving to Next.js makes more sense when speed, security updates or plugin conflicts keep causing problems. Our Next.js vs WordPress guide walks through the trade-offs.

Will my website go offline during the redesign?

No. We build the new version on a private staging address while your current site keeps running. At launch we switch the domain over and turn on the redirects together, so visitors and search engines go straight to the new pages.

Can you redesign just part of my website?

Yes. A phased redesign often works well: start with the homepage and main service pages, then roll the new design out to the rest of the site. The redirect and metadata checks apply to every phase.

Do I need new content for a redesign?

Usually some, rarely all of it. Pages that already rank and bring enquiries should keep their substance, even if the wording is tightened. Thin, outdated or duplicate pages are better merged into stronger ones and redirected. We mark which is which during the audit.

What happens after the new site goes live?

We check Search Console for crawl errors and missing pages, compare traffic to key pages with the pre-launch baseline, and add redirects for anything the map missed. For ongoing updates, security and backups after that, see our website maintenance service.
